About Joinery in Perth

Tradesmen You Can Rely On

Why choose DG Ritchie Joinery Services?

At DG Ritchie Joinery Services, we can offer a complete construction service from general repair work to complete new build projects.

The team is led by Dave Ritchie, with over 50 years experience as both a joiner and builder to trade. DG Ritchie Joinery Services is a family business as Nessie Ritchie, Dave's wife looks after Credit Control and Administration, whilst Brian Ritchie is a Senior Joiner and is Dave & Nessie's son.

The rest of the joinery team is made up of Blair Christie, joiner, Jack Walker, time served joiner, Matthew Carter, 4th year apprentice, Greg Lyall, mature apprentice, Sophie Brown, first female apprentice joiner and Harry Watson, 1st year apprentice.

The groundworks & civils team is headed by Craig Hamilton and David Hay, assisted by Lee Kehrer and Robin Loudon.

Our teams can assist from initial design stages through to completion, offering a range of renewable energy packages from solar PV and solar thermal heat pumps, to name a few, helping to reduce energy costs by significantly reducing your energy bills.

We're committed to helping you reduce your carbon footprint, or decarbonise your whole home. There are a variety of different ways in which home reduce your greenhouse emissions and help the environment by hiring our team for any joinery and construction projects you have.

What else do we think you need to know?

Yes. We've been trading since 1983 and over that time have expanded and contracted depending on customer demand. At the moment we currently have 9 members of staff and are looking for new additions to the team.

We really do cover a wide area of Angus, Perth & Kinross, Tayside and Fife. As you can imagine there will always be a limit as to how far we can travel as each job will vary in value.

That said we've travelled as far as North West of Scotland, Achiltibuie, Inverness, Elgin, and down to the central belt of Stirling, Edinburgh & Glasgow.

It's also not uncommon that we have clients collecting bespoke custom made pieces from our Coupar Angus workshop.

We believe we are competitively priced.

Raw material costs and labour costs very rarely go down and over the years we've worked hard to reduce as much wastage during client projects as we can.

We are always looking for ways to ensure we provide a good and competitive price.

Depending on the work we carry out which could be a custom gate or fence or a sun room or extension we always offer a warranty period.

We've been trading for over 40 years and put a lot of effort into maintaining our reputation.

It's a bone of contention for us that our sector has a bad reputation with customers arranging appointments to then be let down by tradesmen.

Typically you'll find that when you contract a one man band tradesman they'll not have managed the client's expectations by trying to juggle too many jobs at once or even worse chosen to go to the job that is worth more money.

Remember there is more than just one person in our business and whilst we do have work that is running concurrently, it's also easier for us to allocate work and manage callouts.

A lot of our business is from past customers and word of mouth. We believe this is not only a testament to the quality of our work but also how much we're trusted to look after our clients needs.

Definitely.

All our joinery and building work is led by time served joiners and builders. The type of work we've delivered on is not exhaustive and ranges from making bespoke stair cases, custom windows for listed buildings, right through to extensions, garage conversions and many many more.

Our groundworks team have delivered on many landscaping projects and indeed have a good number of long term contracts in place where we've demonstrated our capability and competency.

We follow best practice and all health & safety guidelines.

Part of our giving back to community involved our owner, Dave Ritchie lecturing and running training courses for Perth College UHI (University Highlands & Islands) helping school leavers learn about the key competencies in joinery services.

Whilst we have our own full time joiners, builders, civils & groundworks staff we often are required to project manage many different trades.

We have close working relationships with Architects, Kitchen & Bathroom Designers, Decorators, Electricians, Plumbers, Heating Engineers, Blacksmiths, Steel Erectors, Landscape Gardeners, Stone Masons, Pre Cast Concrete suppliers and Dry Stone Dyke builders.

What Our Clients Say

Don't normally do reviews like this but I feel I must on this occasion after having several companies in at my elderly mother's house to convert a stair so we could get her a chairlift to assist her with her mobility we were met with comments like "waste of time" and "impossible". We were lucky to have met Dave and his approach and attitude of yep I can make and alter that for you. Thank you will never be enough from me, a great guy and a great job.

Richard, Dundee

Just want to thank Davie for a lovely conversion to our summer house, to allow us to use it for an additional workspace, always dubious about what some contractors say to me in the past, but no worries here whatsoever. Can't thank them enough for this...we have used them after this for other works in our house and will continue to do so.

Lynn, Errol, Perthshire

A big thanks to David and his son Brian first class service from them both made a great job of fitting a new insulated loft hatch and loft ladder for us to give us additional space in the the house maybe just as small job for them but a massive improvement for us did exactly what the said they would do great job clean and tidy at a very reasonable price.

Maggie, Carnoustie

Big thanks to David for my new bathroom window great to find a joiner that can actually make something from wood to match what we already have in place just a plain wooden window with a small top opening made exact to match the other window good price good service and on time very happy and will use again later this year for our wooden deck.
